Watermark
Restaurant
Bowling Green Road, Thatcham (01635 871555)
The seriously slick Regency Park Hotel has
an award-winning restaurant known as the Watermark. The
dinning area features elegant muted colours with high backed
chairs and white linen tablecloths. The focal point is the
stunning water feature just outside the restaurant in the
hotel’s beautiful garden. The menu is modern European with
particularly good fish dishes and desserts that make this the
ideal place to celebrate something special.
The
Vineyard
Stockcross (01635 528770)
Looking for a little bit of luxury then a
visit to The Vineyard is definitely in order. This very
special place describes itself as, ‘a restaurant with room
to stay,’ making it first and foremost a restaurant and one
of Michelin star calibre at that. The elegant dining room is
spectacular in its own right but the food is even better.
Dishes such as pressed chicken and foie gras terrine with a
fig and port reduction can be followed by saddle of rabbit
with tomato couscous, mustard tortellini and liquorice. Three
courses will set you back £49 but if you can afford it it’s
certainly worth every penny.
The
Wine Press
Old Oxford Road, Donnington (01635 551199)
The newly refurbished restaurant at the
Donnington Valley Hotel & Golf Club is known as the wine
press. The restaurant has a wooden beamed high roof with a
further balustraded dining area. The main course menu is
divided into classics, seafood, grill and roasts and
vegetarian dishes, offering something for all tastes. The wine
list also deserves a mention as it includes over 350 excellent
wines.
